What

MCP servers are outside programs that give Claude Code extra tools. Claude Code now runs a tracking step just before each MCP tool call and another once the call ends. When a call waits on a long-running task, the watcher that follows that task is now released when it finishes.

Why

This may stop resources from being left behind, or improve time-out handling, during long MCP tool calls.
