Claude Code has a timing check it uses while it is idle or waiting for you to respond. That check now first consults a switch that Anthropic's servers control. If the switch is off, the check stops and reports no. If it is on, the check carries on to its usual waiting-on-you timing. When the server sends nothing for this switch, Claude Code treats it as on.
The timing check keeps working by default, but it can now be turned off remotely without a new release.
