What
Git leaves marker files in a repository while an operation such as a merge is half done. Claude Code keeps a list of these markers to tell whether one is underway. That list is now MERGE_HEAD, CHERRY_PICK_HEAD and REVERT_HEAD. REBASE_HEAD was removed from it.
Why
While you are in the middle of a rebase, this check may no longer report it, so whatever Claude Code does with this check could behave differently during a rebase.
