What
A marketplace is a catalogue you install plugins from. When a marketplace is off, Claude Code now shows a message saying:
plugins you installed from it stay installed and keep updating
you can turn it back on in /plugin → Marketplaces
Why
You get a plain explanation when a marketplace is disabled instead of wondering what happened to your plugins.

Upstream's own release notes for v2.1.287 name something this entry names, so the two are probably about the same change. Probably: the pairing is made on a shared name rather than on the words around it.
