Fast mode asks the model to answer faster using a speed setting. Claude Code can now recognize the error that comes back when a model does not support that setting. It also checks that the model named in the error is the one it asked for.
Why
This could let fast mode handle a model that does not support it more gracefully, rather than simply failing.
