Claude Code can now work out why auto mode is unavailable and build a notice explaining it. The reasons it can give are:
your settings
a safety cutoff that switched it off
consent that was declined
it was never set
it was forced off
unknown
A remote setting that accompanies this falls back to off when the server sends nothing. In a reading not taken under this release, the server returned on for this site's account and for the anonymous baseline.
