What
A session is one running conversation with Claude Code. The CLAUDE_CODE_SESSION_ORIGIN environment variable records where a session was started. Claude Code has a check that is true when this variable is claude_ai_chat and a second condition also holds. That check was revised in this release.
Why
Sessions started from claude.ai chat may get different treatment when both conditions are met.
