Claude Code can load relevant memories into the conversation before a turn. A memory is a note saved from earlier work. Until now it only looked in memories stored locally on your machine. It can now also search memories saved to your account and add any that match, alongside the local ones.
The /pause-memory command has a new message for this: Claude will not load your account memory or save new memories in this session. A session is one conversation with Claude Code. Claude Code also now counts how often it searches and reads account memory during a session.
Why
This is a new place that memories can come from, so what Claude sees at the start of a turn can include things saved to your account and not just things on this machine. Use /pause-memory to keep account memory out of a session.
