What
The Write tool lets Claude create a file or replace a file's contents. When Claude Code checks whether a write is allowed, it now runs a transformation on the new content. If that changes the content, the changed version is what goes ahead.
Claude Code also changed how it decides whether two write requests are the same. It used to ignore trailing blank lines and compare the text directly. It now first adjusts the content to match the file's line-ending style. The line-ending style is the invisible character that ends each line, which is different on Windows (CRLF) and on macOS and Linux.
Why
This mostly affects files that use Windows-style line endings. Two writes that differ only in how lines end can now count as the same.
