What
In vim mode (the option to edit your prompt with vim-style keys), some commands act on whole lines, such as deleting a line. When you paste text, Claude Code can show it as a placeholder, a short chip standing in for the pasted text. If the cursor sits on the line break right after such a placeholder, a whole-line command now starts from the beginning of that line instead of from where the cursor is.
Why
This is a small fix for vim mode. Whole-line commands now cover the full line that ends in a placeholder rather than starting partway through it.

The writer flagged doubt
Which kinds of placeholder besides pasted text count is not clear.
