What
The WebSearch tool's description, the instructions Claude reads about searching the web, changed in this version. It used to say "The current month is September 2026." It now says the current month is "(provided in the conversation below)", and still tells Claude to use this year when searching for recent information.
Why
Claude now takes the current date from the conversation instead of a month written into its instructions, so searches for recent information should use the right date.
