What
A turn is one round of Claude responding. When a turn starts, Claude Code now records who started it: "person" when the latest real user message came from a human, and "automatic" otherwise, for example when Claude Code continues on its own.
Why
This lets later events about a turn tell your prompts apart from automatic continuations.
