What
A skill is a named set of instructions Claude can call on, and some skills have more than one name. Claude Code no longer knows about the claude-ai: prefix. Only anthropic-skills remains, and claude-ai: names are no longer translated to or from anthropic-skills:.
At the same time:
A plugin skill named like name:name can now also be called anthropic-skills:name or plain name, plus any aliases it declares.
A synced or plugin skill named anthropic-skills:name also gains a name:name style alias.
Why
Old references to a skill as claude-ai:skill may stop working, while plugin skills become reachable by shorter names.
