What
On Linux, Claude Code has a helper that checks whether a file it has open is the same file it expects, using the system's /proc folder. Before, any error during this check was silently treated as "not the same file".
Now only these errors are treated that way:
the file does not exist (ENOENT)
access is denied (EACCES or EPERM)
Any other error is passed on as an error instead.
Why
Unexpected file system problems during these careful file operations now show up rather than being quietly mistaken for a mismatch. This only applies where /proc exists, which in practice means Linux.
