What
A plugin is an add-on package that brings extra skills, commands or other features into Claude Code. When you install one from the command line with claude plugin install, Claude Code now passes a "replace" choice to the installer. That choice tells the installer whether to replace a copy of the plugin that is already installed. This step was not part of the install path before.
Why
This may let a plugin install overwrite a copy that was installed earlier, possibly one that came from a different marketplace (a catalogue that plugins are installed from).

Since it was published
The entry above is what we published on the day. These lines were added later, as Anthropic's own pages caught up, and they sit beside the original rather than replacing it.
Added sinceA small documentation edit on Install and manage plugins touched a line naming claude plugin install after this was published.* **Project scope**: the plugin is enabled for everyone who works in this repository. The entry goes in `.claude/settings.json`, which you commit. Committing that entry turns the plugin on for your collaborators but doesn't download it to …plugins/installsee the edit
