The kitty keyboard protocol is a way for a terminal to report key presses in more detail. At startup, Claude Code asks the terminal whether it supports this protocol by sending a short query.
Claude Code now records the terminal's support whenever the terminal answers that query. Before this change, the answer was recorded only when a second, separate condition was also true.
Why
Terminals that do answer the query should now get the richer keyboard handling more reliably.
