Before updating a saved credential in secure storage, Claude Code now reads the current value first, treating a temporary inability to read as a failure. If that read fails, the write is skipped and reported as read_failed_skip_write.
Why
A credential update no longer goes ahead on top of a read that failed. The stored credential is left as it was.
