A permission mode controls how often Claude Code asks you before it acts. When a requested mode fails its checks, the error now comes with one of these codes:
invalid_mode
bypass_restricted
bypass_disabled
bypass_not_launched
Why
A program reacting to these errors can tell the different kinds of failure apart by their code, instead of having to read the wording of the message.
