Claude Code uses a program called pdftoppm to turn PDF pages into images. That step can now be cancelled. When it is, Claude Code stops the program, waits for it to exit, and treats the result as a cancellation instead of a pdftoppm error.

Stopping Claude Code while it reads a PDF no longer leaves a conversion running in the background or shows a misleading error.
