What
The helpers that ask git for change counts, the base to compare against, and the list of untracked files (files git is not yet tracking) can now be given a repository. When they are, git runs with its own settings that fix the working folder and the git data folder to that repository's root, and it does not inherit other environment settings.
The returned file paths are then filtered in within-root mode, which drops:
- absolute paths
- drive letters
..segments, which point to a parent folder- malformed rename entries
Why
When this is used, results stay inside the repository and are not affected by outside git settings.
