What
A daemon is a program that keeps running in the background. Its supervisor, the part that manages worker processes, now saves each worker's status one write at a time instead of several at once. A failed write is tried again after a short delay. When the supervisor stops, it waits for any pending write to finish before cleaning up.
Why
Status writes no longer overlap or get cut off at shutdown, so the saved status is less likely to be wrong or incomplete.
