What
When you run /clear to start a new conversation, it now passes resetTrigger: "clear" and the ID of your /clear message to the step that resets the session. It also still passes the title of the cleared conversation.
Why
The reset now knows that /clear caused it and which message asked for it.
Names in the bundle/clear
The entry above is what we published on the day. These lines were added later, as Anthropic's own pages caught up, and they sit beside the original rather than replacing it.
Added since
A small documentation edit on Checkpointing touched a line naming /clear after this was published.
If you ran `/clear` earlier in the same Claude Code process, the rewind menu shows an additional entry at the top of the list labeled `/resume <session-id> (previous session)`. Select it to resume the conversation that was active before `/…checkpointing see the edit
Confirmed since
Anthropic's documentation has since written up /clear, on inference-hooks.
* **Claude Code.** The user runs `/rewind` and selects the prompt that first brought the content in. If asked, they select **Restore conversation**, then edit or clear the prompt that returns to the input field. `/clear` starts over. See […manage-claude/inference-hooks see the edit
