Connectors from claude.ai are MCP servers: outside tools and data sources that Claude Code reaches through a claude.ai proxy, a server that passes requests along. Normally the MCP library would send a GET request to the proxy to open a notification stream, a long-lived connection over which the server can push updates.
For claude.ai proxy connectors, Claude Code now answers that GET request itself with a 405, the standard "method not allowed" reply, so the request is never sent and the stream is never opened. Before, this only happened for stateless connectors, meaning connectors that do not keep state between requests. The behaviour is controlled by the tengu_serene_teapot gate, a switch the server can turn on or off per account.
With the stream not opened, claude.ai connectors cannot push notifications to Claude Code. Their tools are still called through normal requests.
