Model Deprecation Warnings#

What: Claude Code now displays proactive warnings when using models approaching retirement dates. Details:

  • Warns users when using Claude 3 Opus (retiring January 5-15, 2026 depending on provider)
  • Warns users when using Claude 3.7 Sonnet (retiring February-May 2026 depending on provider)
  • Displays as a high-priority notification: "⚠ [Model Name] will be retired on [Date]. Consider switching to a newer model."
  • Different retirement dates based on provider (Bedrock, Vertex, or first-party API)

What: Plugins can now be installed with different scopes: user, project, or local. How to use: When installing a plugin via the UI, you can now choose:

  • "Install for you (user scope)" - Available across all projects
  • "Install for all collaborators on this repository (project scope)" - Shared via .claude/settings.json
  • "Install for you, in this repo only (local scope)" - Local only, not committed

  • Supports migration from V1 plugin installation format

Improved Plugin Discovery UI#

Published verbatim by Anthropic for v2.0.62. Text is unmodified from the upstream changelog. Everything else on this page came out of the bundle instead, which is why the two lists don't match.

  • Added "(Recommended)" indicator for multiple-choice questions, with the recommended option moved to the top of the list
  • Added attribution setting to customize commit and PR bylines (deprecates includeCoAuthoredBy)
  • Fixed duplicate slash commands appearing when ~/.claude is symlinked to a project directory
