Falls back to ["code", "vi", "nano"] in order
Result is cached to avoid repeated filesystem checks

Editor command Claude Code uses when VISUAL is unset: its editor lookup takes VISUAL, then EDITOR, then the first of code, vi and nano it finds. When /memory opens a file this way it prints Using $EDITOR="...", and the value (after VISUAL) is recorded as editor in the terminal environment info.

Is this right?

Other releases about the same thing. Found by shared names or similar wording; neither means one caused the other.
