Every name Claude Code reads.

Not the names we happened to write about. The names that are actually in the build, read out of the shipped bundle release by release, and kept here after they disappear again. Eight kinds of them, 5,592 in all.

The eight families

8 Counts as this site reads them, out of v2.1.308.
1,448env Environment variables Names the client reads out of the environment it was started in, to turn something on, off or somewhere else. 1,274 in v2.1.308 272cli CLI flags Arguments the claude command accepts, including the ones no help text mentions. 114 in v2.1.308 2,081flag Feature flags GrowthBook gates the client evaluates on startup. Most of what ships is behind one of these before it is announced. 889 in v2.1.308 1,548setting Settings keys Keys the client reads out of a settings.json, at whichever of the four scopes it finds one. 25 in v2.1.308 147slash Slash commands Commands typed at the prompt, the built-in ones the bundle carries. not read yet 35tool Tools The tools the model is given, by the name it calls them with. 29 in v2.1.308 33hook Hook events The points in a session a configured hook can be run at. not read yet 28model Models Model identifiers the client knows about, including the aliases it resolves. not read yet

A family reading not read yet is one whose miner has not landed. The name is real, the route is real, and the list fills in on the release after the inventory learns to read it.

420 of them have no description from anybody: not a line in Anthropic's documentation, not a changelog entry of ours that names them, and not a model's reading of the bundle. They are in the build and nobody has ever said what they do.

1 feature story read the other way round: one feature, followed through every release that changed it, instead of one release at a time.

Every name, with its span

6 of 5,592 names

First and last are the builds an inventory was read out of, not the day anybody wrote the name down. Builds counts the 149 on this box, the newest of them v2.1.308.
