46324632<Warning>
4633 The `context-1m-2025-08-07` beta is retired as of April 30, 2026. Passing this value with Claude Sonnet 4.5 or Sonnet 4 has no effect, and requests that exceed the standard 200k-token context window return an error. To use a 1M-token context window, migrate to [Claude Opus 5.5, Claude Opus 5, Claude Sonnet 5, Claude Sonnet 4.6, Claude Opus 4.6, Claude Opus 4.7, or Claude Opus 4.8](https://platform.claude.com/docs/en/about-claude/models/overview), which include 1M context at standard pricing with no beta header required.
4633 On the Claude API, the `context-1m-2025-08-07` beta is retired for Claude Sonnet 4.5 and Claude Sonnet 4. If you still pass it with either model, requests that exceed the standard 200K-token context window return an error, so remove it from `betas`. To run a session with a 1M-token context window, set `model` to a model that [runs with the 1M window by default](/docs/en/model-config#extended-context), such as `claude-sonnet-5-5` or `claude-opus-5-5`. For a model that reaches 1M only through its `[1m]` variant, append the suffix to the model ID, as in `claude-opus-4-6[1m]`.

An alias entry such as `sonnet` resolves to an explicit model ID such as `claude-sonnet-5`, so a host can match a stored explicit model ID against the alias entry that covers it. Requires Claude Code v2.1.197 or later. |
