Cloud sessions set [`CLAUDE_AUTOCOMPACT_PCT_OVERRIDE`](/docs/en/env-vars) themselves, so compaction triggers partway through the [auto-compact window](/docs/en/model-config#set-the-auto-compact-window) rather than when the window fills. That value overrides one you add in your [environment variables](/docs/en/cloud-environments#set-environment-variables), so adding the variable there doesn't change when compaction triggers.
