33> Release notes for Claude Science, including new features, improvements, and bug fixes by version.

7* A new **Trouble updating?** link opens [Update Claude Science](/docs/claude-science/update-claude-science), a help page with other ways to update. It shows in **Settings > General > About**, in the **Update required** box, and on the "Update available" notice while an update downloads or after one fails
8* Cloud storage in Settings now works with Google Cloud Storage HMAC keys on computers where no AWS region is set
9* Mac: if `config.toml` has `auto_update = false` under `[update]`, Claude Science in its own window no longer checks for updates in the background. You can still check with **Claude Science > Check for App Updates…** in the menu bar
10* Linux: fixed updates from 0.1.66 or earlier failing with "restart aborted" when Claude Science was started by typing only `claude-science`
11* Linux: if a folder you've granted **Read & write** holds a folder you can enter but not list (such as another person's folder on a shared drive), or a stale network mount, the code and commands Claude runs can now be refused, with a message that says how to fix it
12* Bug fixes and reliability improvements

716* **Export session** files now list the approval decisions made in the session from this version on: whether each action was approved, how it was settled, and when

202202On macOS and Linux, `[conda] ca_bundle` affects package downloads only, and it never fixes sign-in. The CA bundle path field on the Settings page sets this same `[conda]` key, so filling it in helps package downloads only, and on Windows leave the field empty. Behind TLS inspection you also need `[network] ca_bundle`, which has no Settings field and is set in `config.toml`.

204pip verifies package downloads against the operating system's trust store, and in this release setting `[conda] ca_bundle` alone may not be sufficient for pip, so also install the corporate root in that trust store: on Linux with `update-ca-certificates` or `update-ca-trust`, on macOS in the system keychain through your MDM, and on Windows in the computer's Trusted Root Certification Authorities store, which pip reads in environments on Python 3.10 or later, the default.

2929| `disable_telemetry = true` | Stops the app from sending product-usage telemetry and error reports to Anthropic. |
3030| `data_dir = "<path>"` | Moves conversations, artifacts, and workspaces to a managed location (for example, a volume your backup tooling covers). |
31| `auto_update = false` under `[update]` | Turns off the background check for updates on Windows, on Linux, and on a Mac where Claude Science opens in a browser tab; pair with your own distribution channel. A member can still check for and install an update from inside Claude Science. |
31| `auto_update = false` under `[update]` | Turns off the background check for updates; pair with your own distribution channel. On a Mac where Claude Science opens in its own window, the key requires version 0.1.69 or later. A member can still check for and install an update from inside Claude Science. |
3232| `enabled = false` under `[sandbox.network]` | Blocks network access from the app's local code-execution sandbox. The similarly named `network_isolated` key under `[sandbox]` doesn't control this. |

3434The [configuration file reference](/docs/claude-science/configuration-file-reference) documents the network-related keys and their defaults, and [Use Claude Science on a corporate network](/docs/claude-science/corporate-networks) covers the proxy, TLS-inspection, and mirror settings.
