## Find an artifact again

from line 61

 Anyone with the page open sees the update in place. Each publish becomes a version, and from the **Share** control in the page header you can choose which version viewers see.

-To update an artifact from a different session, give Claude the artifact's URL and ask it to revise. Without the URL, a new session always creates a new artifact rather than updating an existing one.
+To update an artifact from a different session, give Claude its URL, or attach it with [`/artifacts`](#find-an-artifact-again). Without either, a new session creates a new artifact instead of updating one.

 ```text wrap theme={null}
 Update https://claude.ai/code/artifact/5fbea6f3-... with today's numbers.
 ```

+## Find an artifact again
+
+Run `/artifacts` in Claude Code to list every artifact you own and every artifact shared with you. Select one and press `o` to open it in your browser or `c` to copy its link. Press `Enter` to attach it to the current session; before v2.1.216, `Enter` opened it in your browser. Claude Code reads the list from your claude.ai account, so it works in a new session and after `/clear`, when the link has scrolled out of the terminal. Requires Claude Code v2.1.208 or later.
+
 ## Share an artifact

 A new artifact is visible only to you. To share it, open the artifact in your browser and use the **Share** control in the page header. The header also links to your gallery at [claude.ai/code/artifacts](https://claude.ai/code/artifacts), which lists every artifact you have created.
from line 86

 People you share with are viewers by default: they see each version you publish but can't change the page. On Team and Enterprise plans, you can also make someone an editor. In the share dialog, add a person and switch their role from **viewer** to **editor**.

-An editor publishes new versions the same way you [update the artifact from another session](#update-an-artifact): they give Claude the artifact's URL in their own session, and Claude pulls the current content and republishes with their changes. Everyone with the page open sees each update live.

## How the command menu matches what you type

from line 4

 Commands control Claude Code from inside a session. They provide a quick way to switch models, manage permissions, clear context, run a workflow, and more.

-Type `/` to see the commands available to you, or type `/` followed by letters to filter.
+Type `/` to see the commands available to you, or type `/` followed by letters to filter. [How the command menu matches what you type](#how-the-command-menu-matches-what-you-type) covers highlighting, typos, and the few commands Claude Code hides from the menu until you type their full name.

 A command is only recognized at the start of your message. Text that follows the command name becomes its arguments. As of v2.1.199, [skills](/docs/en/skills#pass-arguments-to-skills) are the exception: a skill invocation followed by more skills, such as `/skill-a /skill-b do XYZ`, loads every skill named at the start and passes the trailing text to each as arguments. Up to six skills can be chained.

 | `/add-dir <path>` | Add a working directory for file access during the current session. Type a partial path to see matching directory suggestions; press `Tab` to accept one. Most `.claude/` configuration is [not discovered](/docs/en/permissions#additional-directories-grant-file-access-not-configuration) from the added directory. A successful add runs your [`DirectoryAdded` hooks](/docs/en/hooks#directoryadded). When you run it while Claude is responding, Claude Code asks you to confirm the directory right away, and once you confirm, Claude's next tool call in the same turn can access it. Before v2.1.234, Claude Code queued the command until the turn finished |

The tool-call summary also counts the subagents launched in the turn and collapses completed background-task notifications into a single count. The selection persists across sessions; set [`viewMode`](/docs/en/settings#available-settings) in settings to override it. Only available in [fullscreen rendering](/docs/en/fullscreen). The [VS Code extension](/docs/en/vs-code#use-the-prompt-box) offers its own Focus view as a command-menu toggle, stored as an extension setting, independent of `viewMode` |

Pass a prompt and the copy starts working on it immediately; without one it waits in agent view for its first prompt. Except when the copy [edits in place](/docs/en/agent-view#how-file-edits-are-isolated), Claude Code instructs it to create a worktree of its own before making code changes; the isolation instruction requires Claude Code v2.1.221 or later. To hand a side task to a subagent whose result comes back into this conversation, use `/subtask`; to switch into a copy yourself, use `/branch`. Requires Claude Code v2.1.212 or later; on v2.1.161 through v2.1.211, and whenever [agent view is turned off](/docs/en/agent-view#turn-off-agent-view), `/fork` starts a [forked subagent](/docs/en/sub-agents#fork-the-current-conversation) instead |

+## How the command menu matches what you type
+
+Claude Code filters the `/` menu as you type. Each bullet below covers one thing you might notice while filtering:
+
+* **Highlighting**: Claude Code highlights the top suggestion only when the letters after the `/` match a command's name or alias, from the start of the name or from a word within it, ignoring the `:`, `_`, and `-` separators. Typing `/adddir` highlights `/add-dir`, and typing `/new` highlights `/clear` through its alias. Press `Enter` to run the highlighted suggestion.
+* **After a typo**: Claude Code highlights nothing. The close matches stay listed, and you can pick one with `Tab` or the arrow keys, but `Enter` submits your text as typed and reports [Unknown command](/docs/en/errors#unknown-command).
+* **Commands that aren't available to you**: Claude Code leaves them out of the menu. When nothing matches, Claude Code shows `No commands match "/name"`. Most unavailable commands return [Unknown command](/docs/en/errors#unknown-command) when you submit them; a few, such as [`/schedule` on a Console API key](/docs/en/routines#schedule-returns-unknown-command), answer with their own availability message instead.
+* **Hidden commands**: Claude Code keeps a few available commands, such as `/heapdump`, out of the menu by design. A partial name never brings a hidden command into the menu: if the partial matches nothing visible, Claude Code shows the same no-match message. Claude Code lists the command only once you've typed its full name, and submitting the full name runs it.

 **What to do:**

 * Include visible text in the prompt. If a script builds the prompt from a variable or file, check that the source isn't empty before calling Claude Code.
+
+### Unknown command
+
+You submitted a `/` name that doesn't match any command in this session, so Claude Code reports the name instead of running anything:
+
+```text theme={null}
+Unknown command: /hepl. Did you mean /help?
+```
+
+Claude Code suggests the closest command name or alias that the menu lists in this session. When nothing is close, the message ends after the name. The cause is usually one of the following:
+
+* A typo, such as `/hepl` for `/help`. [How the command menu matches what you type](/docs/en/commands#how-the-command-menu-matches-what-you-type) covers picking a close match before you submit
+* A command that exists but isn't available in this session because a requirement isn't met, such as your platform, plan, or authentication method. The troubleshooting entries for [`/web-setup`](/docs/en/web-quickstart#web-setup-shows-no-commands-match-or-unknown-command) and [`/schedule`](/docs/en/routines#schedule-returns-unknown-command) walk through two common cases
+* A command from a [plugin](/docs/en/plugins) or [MCP server](/docs/en/mcp#use-mcp-prompts-as-commands) that isn't installed or connected in this session
+
+Before v2.1.236, if you pressed `Enter` while the command menu listed a near match for the name you typed, Claude Code ran that match, so a typo such as `/hepl` ran `/help` instead of producing this message.
+
+**What to do:**
+
+* Run the suggested name, or type `/` followed by part of the name to see what's available in this session
+* If Claude Code reports a documented command as unknown, check its row in the [commands reference](/docs/en/commands) for the requirement it names

 In [fullscreen rendering](/docs/en/fullscreen#use-the-mouse), the `/` command and `@` file suggestion lists also respond to the mouse: hovering highlights a row and clicking accepts it.

 On [Opus 4.8, Sonnet 5, Fable 5, Mythos 5, and later versions of those families](/docs/en/tools-reference#task-tool-availability), Claude keeps track of multi-step work without a written checklist, and Claude Code doesn't provide the tools that fill this list, so it stays empty. If you'd like the task list on those models anyway, opt in with `CLAUDE_CODE_ENABLE_TODO_TOOLS=1` or one of the other ways under [Task tool availability](/docs/en/tools-reference#task-tool-availability). On earlier models such as Opus 4.7, and after you opt in, the task list works as follows:

 * Press `Ctrl+T` to toggle the task list view. The display shows up to five tasks at a time. When Claude hasn't created any checklist items yet, the toggle has no visible effect because there's nothing to display
+* If you leave the list expanded, Claude Code restores the expanded view the next time you launch into a session that still has tasks, such as with `--resume` or `--continue`. When the task list is empty, Claude Code starts it collapsed
 * To see all tasks or clear them, ask Claude directly: "show me all tasks" or "clear all tasks"
 * Tasks persist across context compactions, helping Claude stay organized on larger projects
 * To share a task list across sessions, set `CLAUDE_CODE_TASK_LIST_ID` to use a named directory in `~/.claude/tasks/`: `CLAUDE_CODE_TASK_LIST_ID=my-project claude`

 When you return to the terminal after stepping away, Claude Code shows a one-line recap of what happened in the session so far. The recap generates in the background once at least three minutes have passed since the last completed turn and the terminal is unfocused, so it's ready when you switch back. Recaps only appear once the session has at least three turns, and never twice in a row.

-Run `/recap` to generate a summary on demand. To turn automatic recaps off, open `/config` and disable **Session recap**.

 The CLI hides `/schedule` when one of its requirements isn't met: the command menu shows `No commands match "/schedule"` while you type, and submitting it returns `Unknown command: /schedule` in every case below except a Console API key or an Anthropic profile with feature-flag fetching enabled. The cause is usually one of the following:

 If `/web-setup` responds with "Not signed in to Claude. Run /login first.", the CLI doesn't have a valid claude.ai sign-in. This can also happen when a previous sign-in has expired. Run `/login`, sign in with your claude.ai account, then run `/web-setup` again.
