A virtual message is one Claude Code adds to the conversation itself rather than one you typed. All of the following sits behind a check, `ae()`, whose value was not worked out:\n\n- Incoming script calls: the bridge now ignores script-call rows coming in (\"Ignoring a script call's row at ingress\"). This happens when the row's id matches a script row, or when a user message has `is_virtual` true.\n\n- Outgoing messages: in `writeMessages`, messages with `isVirtual` true no longer have their id recorded as sent, and ids of script rows are checked for duplicates. Before, every message id was added to the sent list. One finding describes this branch as internal only.\n\n- Message ids: certain assistant tool_use messages now get a different id, and progress messages go through a `tickToStore` step.\n\n- Visible virtual messages: the transcript filter used to drop every virtual user or assistant message. It now keeps one if `visibleToRemoteClients === true`.\n\n**Why**\n\nThese changes point to script or REPL tool calls being kept out of remote transcripts. Remote viewers may also see some added messages that were hidden from them before.\n\n- Area: Remote Control\n- Tier: Under the hood\n- Useful: 1\/5\n- Signal: 2\/5\n- Scope: individual\n- Heads-up: no"}
