The two kinds of prompt cache it handles are now controlled differently:\n\n- The one-hour cache no longer has its own remote switch. It is always on in the code.\n\n- The keepalive cache is controlled by one remote setting with a mode. \"compact\" turns it on, \"log\" only records what would happen, and anything else turns it off. With nothing sent from the server it is off.\n\nA minimum conversation size, read from `CLAUDE_CODE_IDLE_COMPACT_MIN_TOKENS`, also applies. Tokens are the small pieces of text a model counts.\n\n**Why**\n\nIdle compaction is now rolled out differently. The one-hour cache part no longer depends on anything being switched on remotely, while the keepalive part stays off unless it is switched on remotely.\n\n- Flag `tengu_bubbly_canyon`: Not enough to say (read for one account on one subscription tier against v2.1.314; this account: no value returned, anonymous baseline: no value returned, compiled default: not a boolean we can read) These values were read against a different version of Claude Code, so treat them as the nearest reading available instead of one taken on this release.\n- Flag `tengu_sunny_locket`: Not enough to say (read for one account on one subscription tier against v2.1.314; this account: no value returned, anonymous baseline: no value returned, compiled default: not a boolean we can read) These values were read against a different version of Claude Code, so treat them as the nearest reading available instead of one taken on this release.\n- Area: Compaction\n- Tier: Under the hood\n- Useful: 1\/5\n- Signal: 2\/5\n- Scope: individual\n- Heads-up: no"}
