Before, if a session's saved state already showed it had finished, the supervisor simply stopped it.\n\nNow, if a background session dies from its own unhandled error while its saved state reads success, the supervisor restarts it. It is not restarted when:\n\n- someone is attached to it\n\n- it has a scheduled task in progress\n\n- it is pinned\n\nRestarts are limited. Past the limit the session stops, and a notice says it was not restarted because it crashed again after a number of restarts. The conversation is saved.\n\nThe code falls back to allowing these restarts when the server sends no setting.\n\n**Why**\n\nA background session that crashes can now come back on its own instead of staying stopped, while the limit keeps a session that keeps crashing from restarting forever.\n\n- Flag `tengu_bg_settled_crash_restart`: Not enough to say (read for one account on one subscription tier against v2.1.311; this account: no value returned, anonymous baseline: no value returned, compiled default: on) These values were read against a different version of Claude Code, so treat them as the nearest reading available instead of one taken on this release.\n- Area: Background Agents\n- Tier: You'll notice\n- Useful: 3\/5\n- Signal: 3\/5\n- Scope: individual\n- Heads-up: no"}
