When an MCP server needs you to sign in first, Claude Code holds a placeholder entry for it until you do.\n\nClaude Code regularly asks each server for its list of tools. When that request fails and the server is still only a placeholder waiting for sign-in, Claude Code now clears its stored copy of that server's tools and stops there. It no longer applies the failed result. Before, the failed result was applied anyway.\n\n**Why**\n\nA brief error from a server you have not signed in to yet no longer wipes out its placeholder tools.\n\n- Area: MCP\n- Tier: You'll notice\n- Useful: 2\/5\n- Signal: 1\/5\n- Scope: individual\n- Heads-up: no"}
