In a diskless session (one that keeps its data in a storage service rather than on the local disk), Claude Code now logs a message when it has no storage to use for a mailbox, saying that nothing was read or written. The message lists three possible causes:\n\n- the storage-backend feature is off\n\n- no storage service was handed to the session\n\n- the agent or team name is not a valid storage key\n\nThe feature behind this is off unless it is switched on remotely, and `CLAUDE_CODE_HOVER_REST` overrides it. A session with it on passes `CLAUDE_CODE_HOVER_REST=1` to any child session it starts.\n\n**Why**\n\nIn diskless sessions, teammate mailboxes only work when this feature is on.
