Each one runs in a permission mode, which decides what it may do without asking you. When Claude Code picks a subagent's mode, it now also looks at the mode of the session that started it.\n\n- Main session in auto mode, subagent declaring any mode other than plan: the subagent falls back to the main session's mode.\n\n- A similar fallback can apply when the declared mode cannot be narrowed from the main session's mode.\n\nBefore, the fallback applied only in a narrower case.\n\n**Why**\n\nA subagent that declares a broader mode while the main session is in auto mode may now be limited to the main session's mode, so it may not get the wider permissions its definition asks for.\n\n- Area: Subagents\n- Tier: You'll notice\n- Useful: 3\/5\n- Signal: 2\/5\n- Scope: individual\n- Heads-up: yes"}
