Claude Code now checks once, the first time it needs git, whether the git it found is such a launcher. It remembers the answer for the rest of the run.\n\n- If git is behind a launcher, Claude Code runs the underlying program directly.\n\n- If the `MSYSTEM` environment variable is set, it keeps using the git it found.\n\nThe remembered answer is cleared whenever Claude Code resets its other saved git information.\n\n**Why**\n\nThis changes which program actually runs when Claude Code uses git, which matters mostly on Windows and in setups where git is wrapped by a launcher.\n\n- Area: Elsewhere\n- Tier: Under the hood\n- Useful: 1\/5\n- Signal: 1\/5\n- Scope: individual\n- Heads-up: no"}
