A classifier is a model that sorts actions into safe or not. Claude Code now picks the classifier's model in this order:\n\n- A model set in Anthropic's server configuration.\n\n- The model you name in the `CLAUDE_CODE_AUTO_MODE_MODEL` environment variable.\n\n- A built-in default.\n\nClaude Code ignores `CLAUDE_CODE_AUTO_MODE_MODEL` and shows a warning in these cases:\n\n- A server model is set.\n\n- Your organization's model policy does not allow that model.\n\n- The API's safeguards refuse the classifier's stricter check on that model.\n\n**Why**\n\nIf you pin the classifier's model with `CLAUDE_CODE_AUTO_MODE_MODEL`, it may not be the one actually used. Watch for the warning that starts \"Auto mode classifier: ignoring CLAUDE_CODE_AUTO_MODE_MODEL=\".\n\n- Flag `tengu_auto_mode_config`: Not enough to say (read for one account on one subscription tier against v2.1.302; this account: no value returned, anonymous baseline: no value returned, compiled default: not a boolean we can read) These values were read against a different version of Claude Code, so treat them as the nearest reading available instead of one taken on this release.\n- Area: Auto Mode\n- Names: `CLAUDE_CODE_AUTO_MODE_MODEL`\n- Tier: You'll notice\n- Useful: 3\/5\n- Signal: 4\/5\n- Scope: both\n- Heads-up: yes"}
