When Claude Code gathers the changes in a Git repository to show you, it now reads the list of files you have staged, meaning marked for the next commit, straight from Git. It then checks each file's contents against Git's own fingerprint of that file, and allows for Windows-style line endings while doing so.\n\nIt also skips any file whose real location on disk differs from where it is expected to be. This happens with a symbolic link, which is a file that points to another file somewhere else.\n\n**Why**\n\nA link or a swapped path can no longer make the change view show the contents of a file somewhere else on your computer.\n\n- Area: Git\n- Tier: You'll notice\n- Useful: 1\/5\n- Signal: 1\/5\n- Scope: individual\n- Heads-up: no"}
