Claude Code now inspects any of these that are reached through a link, meaning a shortcut that points to a file or folder stored somewhere else. Each link is sorted into one of three groups:\n\n- inside the expected location\n\n- outside it\n\n- unverified\n\nA link that points outside produces a warning that says: \"Ask your administrator to replace the link with the file or folder it points to.\" Claude Code also records an event about these links in its usage data.\n\n**Why**\n\nOrganisations that set up policy files as links will start seeing these warnings and may need to replace the links with the real files.\n\n- Area: Elsewhere\n- Tier: You'll notice\n- Useful: 2\/5\n- Signal: 2\/5\n- Scope: org\n- Heads-up: no"}
