Their loading now keeps a record of files already held, so the same file is not added again. The code that handles them also reacts to more moments in a session than before:\n\n- running a command\n\n- compacting, when Claude Code shortens a long conversation to save space\n\n- submitting a prompt\n\n- the start and end of a turn\n\n- mentioning a file or folder with @\n\nBefore, it only reacted when building the prompt's context, when starting a subagent (a helper Claude starts for part of a task) and when reading a file. Mentioning a path now also brings in the instruction files inside it.\n\n**Why**\n\nYou should see fewer duplicate copies of the same `CLAUDE.md` in a conversation, and @-mentioning a folder now brings in its nested instructions.\n\n- Area: CLAUDE.md\n- Tier: You'll notice\n- Useful: 2\/5\n- Signal: 2\/5\n- Scope: individual\n- Heads-up: no"}
