Claude Code can fetch a large file attachment before it is actually needed, which is called a prefetch. The download now checks a reply from the server that says whether the file was already delivered. When the file had not been marked as seen and an internal check passes, Claude Code stops making further early downloads for the rest of the session.\n\nPrefetch requests also now ask not to be stored in any cache, so each one fetches a fresh copy.\n\n**Why**\n\nIn practice this changes how often Claude Code downloads attachments ahead of time during Remote Control sessions, cutting downloads the server says are no longer needed.\n\n- Area: Remote Control\n- Tier: Under the hood\n- Useful: 1\/5\n- Signal: 1\/5\n- Scope: individual\n- Heads-up: no"}
