It now works out up front which messages the rewind will cut. If the rewind is then refused, or another action gets there first, those messages are put back in the queue instead of being lost.\n\nWhen the rewind has to interrupt a turn that is still running, it now keeps tool calls that were detached from the turn and left running in the background. A tool call is one action Claude takes, such as running a command or reading a file. After a successful rewind, Claude Code also tidies up its record of those background tool calls for the session.\n\nSeparately, Claude Code now keeps a record for each tool call's permission checks. A permission check is the step where Claude Code decides whether an action is allowed.
