Part of that is leaving out generated files, which a repository marks with git's `linguist-generated` attribute.\n\n- Generated-file detection used to start a separate `git check-attr` process for every file. It now asks about all files at once with a single `git check-attr -z --stdin linguist-generated` call.\n\n- Deleted files and line counts now come from `git diff --name-only` and `git diff --numstat`.\n\n- When one of these git commands fails, Claude Code now raises an error. It used to ignore the failure quietly.\n\n**Why**\n\nOn changes that touch many files, attribution needs far fewer git processes, so it should finish faster. Git problems that used to go unnoticed now come to the surface.\n\n- Area: Elsewhere\n- Tier: You'll notice\n- Useful: 1\/5\n- Signal: 1\/5"}
