Before, it waited once and could return while newer writes were still queued.\n\nRemoving a message, compacting the conversation, or a failed write now also clears the bookkeeping Claude Code keeps about what has already been written.\n\n**Why**\n\nWrites added while a save was underway could be left unsaved when the save finished.
